Favorite Novel

One of my favorite novels is Lord of the Flies by William Golding. I really enjoyed the novel due to how realistic the issues within the story were. The novel explored human innateness and had a lot of deeper meanings below its surface. I also enjoyed the novel due to how relatable it was as a high schooler. The novel had characters from all levels of the "social hierarchy" and it demonstrates human interaction within people from different tiers of the social pyramid. I was really interested in all of these topics which further attracted me to the book.

My Four Years in Pictures

Lyrics

"The Other Side" by Alessia Cara

In my room, staying up late
And I'm planning my escape
'Cause I know I can't stay
In my veins I got the feeling
Like there must be something more
I've never been so sure

All night and day
I dream of a place

Somewhere far, far away
Beyond the crowds and city lights
I wanna open up my eyes
And see you on the other side

These streets aren't easy
And I need your hand to hold
So I'm not alone
And I hear all these voices
Though they try to slow me down
I can tune them out

All night and day
I dream of a place

Somewhere far, far away
Beyond the crowds and city lights
Out of the darkness we can shine
So I'm packing my bags
I'm gonna leave it all behind
I wanna open up my eyes
And see you on the other side

 Here it goes
I clear my throat
Cue the violins
Making moves
Shout it from the rooftops
I'm trying to live, yeah

Somewhere far, far away
Beyond the crowds and city lights
Out of the darkness we can shine
Somewhere far, far away
Beyond the crowds and city lights
Out of the darkness we can shine
So I'm packing my bags
I'm gonna leave it all behind
I wanna open up my eyes
And see you on the other side

This song is one of my favorite songs due to how inspirational the song lyrics are. While it appears to be a love song, when substituting the subject of "you" for a dream or goal in life, it demonstrates that to achieve your ultimate goal, there are some things you may have to leave behind. I like how applicable to real life the lyrics are.
